Rammed Earth Sculpture at Hengistbury Head
A rammed earth sculpture in a Site of Special Scientific Interest
Ian worked with artist Briony Marshall to bring this rammed earth sculpture into fruition. Constructed in-situ using locally sourced clay material, the form and foundation are optimised to enable a shallow form of construction to minimise excavation and material use at this site of Special Scientific Interest. The layered form invites reflection and is intended to mirror the geological time as captured in nearby cliffs, and mirrored in the layers of the soil sculpture.
