National Automotive Innovation Centre, University of Warwick
A collaborative university based research hub, driving innovation and research for the next generation of Jaguar Land Rover vehicles.
Architect: Cullinan Studio
Specialist Mass Timber Contractor: B&K Structures
This university research facility brings together a wealth of research and talent under one large mass timber roof, the largest in the UK at the time of it’s construction at over 80m wide, encompassing 30m bowstring trusses over a multi-storey atria.
The engineered timber roof, trusses and steel subframe under were developed and detailed to give a dramatic, unifying architectural element, continuous through the facility. The edge projects above a continuous ribbon of windows so the roof appears to float over the building.
